Qivo practical guides
How to create a QR code with a logo
A logo makes a brand recognizable, but also covers part of the image. Its size and placement must be tested alongside the design, content density and final display or print surface.
Start with a simple code and a small logo. Increase it gradually and check the final file.
Prepare the logo file
Qivo accepts PNG, JPEG and WebP files up to 2 MB, with a maximum side of 2048 pixels. SVG uploads are not accepted. PNG or WebP with transparency works well for a mark without a background.
Crop unnecessary transparent or white padding inside the logo file. A file with large empty margins makes the visible mark look small even when the size slider is increased. Preserve the logo’s proportions while cropping.
What does the 12–30% size setting mean?
The Qivo slider requests a logo area relative to the width of the QR matrix. It does not promise to cover that percentage of the total surface. A rectangular mark is fitted inside the available area while preserving its aspect ratio.
For dense codes, the editor may reduce or slightly shift the area to avoid functional patterns. If the logo still looks too small, simplify the content, use a shorter address on your own website, or make the QR code physically larger in the final layout.
Why Qivo automatically selects H
Qivo applies the highest available error correction level, H, whenever a logo is used. This adds recovery capacity, but does not guarantee that an arbitrarily covered code will scan.
Do not place extra text or decoration over the three corner finders after export. They help the scanner locate and orient the code; stronger error correction cannot substitute for their correct geometry.
A practical checking sequence
- Enter the final content and confirm that a simple code without a logo works.
- Upload the image, start small, and keep a four-module margin.
- Download and wait for the check. If you see a warning, reduce the logo or restore standard finders.
- Scan the exported PNG or printed SVG with several phones in normal lighting.
Logos in SVG and print quality
The QR geometry inside an SVG is vector-based. Your uploaded logo is embedded as a cleaned raster image, so its detail does not become unlimited. For a large poster, inspect the logo sharpness separately.
If you add a different logo over the exported QR in a graphics editor, test again. Qivo’s check only applies to the image it generated.
